Samuel White Dead.
Samuel White one of our oldest citizens died at his home in Allen
early Monday morning, June 17, at the age of nearly 64 years. Funeral
services were held at the M.P. Church, Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock, conducted
by Rev. Conrad, who preached an eloquent and forceful sermon, assisted by
the Masonic lodge, after which the remains were conveyed to the Allen cemetery
and buried by the Masons under their sympathetic but solemn code.
Samuel White was born in Tennessee, August 6, 1842, where he was
reared until manhood. In 1861 he enlisted in the 9th Kentucky infantry,
where he served with honor to himself and regiment for over three years.
He was married to Nancy A. Keith on September 8, 1869 and to this union five
children were born, only two of whom, S.C. White, Mrs. Wm Porter, and his
devoted wife survive him. Together with his family he has resided in
this locality for many years and during this time made many friends who will
extend to his bereaved wife and children their heartfelt sympathy in this,
their sad hour of affliction.
